Log roll rewinders and log roll slicers are often confused. They are two consecutive steps in tape conversion, and a plant normally needs both.
A log roll rewinding machine winds a wide web of tape onto a core to form a log roll. Its job is to build a tight, square, consistent log at the diameter you specify, using automatic tension control and, optionally, automatic cutting and wrapping.
A log roll slicing machine takes the finished log roll and cuts it across into individual rolls. Its job is accuracy and repeatability: cutting width, indexing tolerance and clean cuts through adhesive.
The order is coating, then slitting, then log roll rewinding, then log roll slicing. Rewinding determines the quality of the log; slicing determines the quality of the finished roll.
Most masking, foam and similar tape lines do. Some BOPP lines combine slitting and rewinding in one machine and use a slicer for final rolls. Describe your product to Goldmann and we will map the machines you need.
