Self-adhesive label stock is a laminate of three layers: a face stock (the printable paper or film), a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) layer, and a release liner that protects the adhesive until the label is applied. In hot melt label stock production the adhesive is melted, coated onto the release liner or the face stock, and the two are laminated and wound.
Goldmann's machine handles the whole sequence: unwinding, adhesive coating, lamination of the release liner on a secondary unwind station, and rewinding.
Adhesive is applied by a precision slot die system, or a slot die with rotary bar, giving even coverage across the web. Adhesive is melted in a three-stage Teflon-coated melter for consistent melting and delivered by an auto dispensing system with GSM control, so the coat weight stays on target through the run.
Label stock is unforgiving of web-handling faults, so the machine includes a fully automatic rewind tension control system, an electronic web guide for the release and laminating substrates, and a moisturizing unit for the release liner. A dual rewind station allows quick changeover with minimum downtime. Unwinding is by a separate unwind unit with chain conveyor or shaftless unwind.
The control system is fully PLC (Siemens) based and WiFi enabled with remote troubleshooting. Telematics let Goldmann engineers support your machine remotely.
