BOPP tape is made in a sequence of coating and conversion steps. Here is each stage and the machine behind it.
A roll of biaxially oriented polypropylene film is loaded on the unwinder. An automatic turret unwinder with auto splicing keeps the line running when one roll ends.
Adhesive is applied to the film. In Goldmann's BOPP coating plant this is done by reverse roll kiss coating with a Mayer bar unit.
The coated film passes through a drying tunnel, where the adhesive is dried, and then a chilled roll for cooling. Tunnel length depends on the line speed and model.
The coated web is wound into a jumbo roll by a turret rewinder with auto changeover and splicing.
A slitter rewinder cuts the jumbo roll into narrower rolls and rewinds them as log rolls.
A log roll slicing machine cuts each log into finished tape rolls of the required width.
Finished rolls are packed. For a plant specification covering all stages, contact Goldmann.
